Monsieur Seb’s Daily Suggestion: 4 bits of Mathématique

c35ca6c7eef6e1ad6315ccb67c913f9021f8878b_normal

I’ve told you about Standing Waltz in a Daily suggestion in April.

As you may or may not know, the band’s drummer, the very excellent Pascale Mercier, also has a side project named Mathématique, which she describes as

“an electro/8bits project from Quebec City, born in december 2008, started by a girl who loves video games and vintage synths.”

I don’t think you need more words.

Monsieur Seb’s Daily Music Suggestion: Die Mensch-Maschine

kwerk

Mute has announced a major reissue programme for our beloved Kraftwerk to be released in early October, as reported here by FACT Magazine.

This reissue will coincide with the 35th anniversary of their Autobahn album.

The reissue, however, will not include the band’s first three albums — Kraftwerk 1 (1970), Kraftwerk 2 (1972), Ralf und Florian (1973) —, focusing on the better known part of their catalog, from Autobahn (1974) to Tour de France (2003), and including The Mix (1993).

Leaving out the first albums and including The Mix is a decision I find questionnable, but hey, I don’t work for Mute, do I?

As for Tour de France, it’s so recent, does it really need a remastered version?

In any case, I don’t want to sound like a party-pooper, I’m really happy about this news!

Entitled 12345678, the reissue will be available in these various formats:

  • 8 individual CDs presented in special slipcases featuring newly expanded artwork, including many previously unseen images all of which have been reproduced to the highest technical standards.
  • CD Box Set containing 8 CDs in ‘mini-vinyl’ card wallet packaging, plus individual large format booklets.
  • 8 individual heavyweight vinyl LPs with large format booklets.
  • Digital downloads

As a mini-grieving for the non-inclusion of their first albums in the reissue, I propose you listen or discover this track:

Monsieur Seb’s Daily Music Suggestion: Holy FUCK!!!

I’ve known for a long while that Jesse Somfay is one outstanding artist in the music world (yes, at large, not just in the electronic one), as his work as a composer has proved many times over.

Now, the man has dropped an even bigger bomb on our avid — and possibly unsuspecting — ears yesterday via SoundCloud.

It came in the form of an astounding three hours and twenty seven minutes mix recorded for Henry Salz’s podcast The Labyrinth.

Again, I’ll let his work speak for itself, but…

ALL DJS SHOULD TAKE HEED.

Seriously.

I know I have.

And don’t miss his masterpieces A Catch In The Voice and the mind-blowing Fricative White.

Hey y’all! Sorry ’bout the wee hiatus, I was off on a small holiday with my daughter, last weekend, and well… that’s it!

As is customary when I do not post for a few days, I try to come back with music you can keep legally and for free!

Well, I found a few great things for ya!

First, if you remember, a coupla days ago I told you about The Mungolian Jet Set releasing an excellent double compilation of their work. Well, turns out they are giving out one of the tracks on said compilation, and it happens to be the best one of the lot!

Clairevoyage (A Medley Performed By The 16th Rebels Of Mung) – Dominique Leone

As you can see, it is offered by RCRD*LBL, “a network of ad supported online record labels and blogs offering completely free music and multimedia content from emerging and established artists.”

There’s tons of good stuff and there’s a newsletter you can subscribe to that will send a free track to your inbox on a daily basis!

Today’s free track, for instance, made me discover the excellent Memory Tapes.

Bicycle (Horrors Cosmic Dub) – Memory Tapes

I’ve also mentionned FACT Magazine before, they also give out free stuff regularly, and latest on the list is British MC Ms. Dynamite.

Never heard of her? Check out the video for her debut hit from a coupla years back, Dy-Na-Mi-Tee
